In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is grappling with personal grief as his elder sister, Rajeshwariben, breathed her last on Sunday at a Mumbai hospital. Rajeshwariben, in her sixties, had been recovering from a lung transplant procedure conducted a few months ago.
The somber occasion led to the cancellation of two public events scheduled for Shah in Gujarat, where he was slated to launch projects and products for Banas Dairy and address a public gathering. The funeral rites took place at a crematorium in Ahmedabad’s Thaltej area on Monday, attended by grieving family members, including Amit Shah, who had rushed back from Mumbai.
The loss of his sister has cast a pall over Shah’s public engagements, with the Chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Bank Limited, Ajay Patel, expressing condolences and citing the Minister’s absence at the Banaskantha event due to the tragic demise of his elder sister.
