In the holy city of Ayodhya, a significant development has taken place in the Ram Temple – the Ram Lalla idol is now unveiled, free from its blindfold, as part of the pre-consecration rituals. This 51-inch idol, a creation of Mysuru’s sculptor Arun Yogiraj, reached the temple early Thursday morning.
At first, the idol was seen covered in a white cloth, but recent photographs reveal its intricate design, indicating a major step forward in the temple’s consecration preparations. The idol, situated in the temple’s innermost sanctum, features a range of religious symbols like Om, Ganesh, Chakra, Sankh, Gada, Swastik, Hanuman, and Kamala Nayan.
A grand ceremony called ‘Pran Pratishtha’ is scheduled for Monday. This event is expected to host over 7,500 distinguished guests, including more than 4,000 saints. Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is also expected to attend.
With the historic event approaching, Ayodhya is bustling with activity. Thousands of artisans and performers are adding to the city’s festive atmosphere. This event is not just a religious milestone; it’s a catalyst for several development projects designed to welcome the large number of tourists who are expected to visit the Ram Temple.
The placement of the Ram Lalla idol in the inner sanctum was a ceremonial affair, accompanied by prayers and chants. This was reported by the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which is in charge of the temple’s construction. Udupi Pejawar mutt Sri Vishwaprasanna Teertha, a Trustee, stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to be present for the official installation of the idol during the ‘Abhijith Muhurta’ on January 22.
