The Punjab government has sent a warning to IAS Ajoy Sharma, Principal Health Secretary, for not reporting an IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization) case involving Sidhu Moose Wala’s parents to higher authorities. Sidhu Moose Wala’s father complained about facing problems when his second child was born last week, bringing attention to the age limits for IVF.
The late singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s parents had their second child using IVF. However, the government raised concerns about why the issue wasn’t brought to the Chief Minister or Health Minister’s attention for investigation.
In a notice, the government criticized the official for not seeking orders from higher authorities and termed it a serious mistake. The official was asked to explain within two weeks why disciplinary action shouldn’t be taken against him.
Sidhu Moose Wala’s father, in an Instagram video, requested the authorities to stop the investigation, stating that he would provide all necessary documents when asked. He emphasized that his family was abiding by the law.
The Union Health Ministry requested a report from Punjab regarding the IVF case. It highlighted that according to the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021, women aged 21 to 50 are eligible for IVF treatment. Sidhu Moose Wala, a singer and politician, was shot and killed in May 2022.
