Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of causing trouble in the Sandeshkhali area. She stated that her government took action against local TMC leaders, but the BJP didn’t do the same with its workers. Mamata claimed that the BJP, Left, and Congress are working together against her in the state.
According to Mamata, the BJP is trying to disturb peace in Sandeshkhali. She assured that her government would take action if there were any allegations, and forcibly taken possessions would be returned. Mamata criticized the BJP, calling it anti-Bengali, anti-women, anti-farmer, and anti-dalit. She also mentioned arrests made by the police in connection with the Sandeshkhali incident.
Mamata accused the Election Commission of favoring the BJP and using agencies like the ED and CBI to intimidate her party. She expressed her right to voice opinions and criticized the BJP, Left, and Congress for joining forces against her. Referring to the farmers’ protest, Mamata sympathized with the farmers and accused the BJP of creating chaos and provoking communities against each other.
Addressing cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), Mamata emphasized the importance of proper investigations and charge sheets. She criticized the practice of keeping someone behind bars without due legal process. Mamata compared this to Indira Gandhi’s actions during the Emergency period, asserting that winning elections through such methods is not justified.
In January, Mamata had clashed with the Congress over seat-sharing for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. She accused the Congress of demanding more seats and insisted that they sever ties with the CPI(M). Despite Congress avoiding direct attacks, Mamata’s Trinamool has criticized the party led by Mallikarjun Kharge.
